Plano Kitchen Remodel, April, 2011

After 21 years of Formica countertops and backsplash,
Henry and I decided to remodel the kitchen having selected
St. Cecilia Granite and Travertine Tile.

  The before picture.

Remember the red paint above the Formica back splash...
and the brick side walls? Workers couldn't get the Formica out without
chipping away some of the brick.  Too much fell away.

Bath off kitchen...before.

First step: Remove everything below the counter tops from kitchen and baths.

It begins.
Men arrive on Monday, April 4, at 9AM.
New faucets on table await installation.

Kitchen door stays open all day.

Dust fills the house as the old Formica is removed.

Note the brick destruction. Contractor worried about how to repair.

The granite goes into place in the bathroom.

Granite goes in the alcove...brick still a real concern.

First day: Granite complete; Plumber arrives at 5PM and works until 10.
Finds major plumbing problems under kitchen and bathroom sinks. Fixed better than any plumber ever fixed the problems.  Added an additional $190 to the bill, but worth every penny!

Kitchen is starting to take shape.  Henry and I love the granite.

Second day: Travertine tile installed.

Faucets and sinks look great!

Love not seeing the red anymore.

Day three: finishing touches.  Even the brick repair turned out well!

New faucets and sink blend well with the back splash and granite.

Love the new look!

My dream kitchen!

Bath off kitchen looks up to date.

Hall bath is most dramatic with new black fixtures.

It will be hard to leave this house with my new kitchen and baths.
