Library paneling, popular in the 1970s and early 80s.
Sanding was a difficult task as dust filled the house.
Investing in plastic wrap to cover our lives.
Henry specializes in painting ceilings and rafters.
First, the paneling and rafters needs to be sanded, then cleaned with TSP,
then primed with a messy, drippy, oil based Kiltz primer.
First coat of primer. Yuck!
What a mess! Now, the second coat.
Even the primer is an improvement over the dark paneling.
Taping is no fun!
Experimenting with different color samples.
Allison and Eric help with the decision.
The painting begins. So many squares, so little time!
A second coat is needed. Peeling the tape off the rafters,
was a nightmare. The paint came with the tape!
After eleven long days of going up and down a ladder, and
covered in paint, Henry and Ruth can resume a normal life.
They are very pleased with the final look!
Transported out of the 70s and into the 21st century!
